New Patient Acupuncture or Acupressure
Establishing care: Your first time working with Julia
Service Description
This appointment allows for some extra time for the medical intake process and gives the patient an opportunity to expand on what they hope to address using acupuncture or another Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) form of treatment. Dr. Tortolani will review intake forms, discuss injuries, conditions, and health goals, perform a brief exam/evaluation if appropriate, and formulate a treatment plan. If the patient has lab results, imaging reports, or a list of prescription medications, bringing them to this appointment is helpful. If the patient is new to acupuncture, Julia will explain what to expect during the session. If the patient has a fear of needles or a condition for which acupuncture is contra-indicated (such as a bleeding disorder), then acupressure is a great alternative therapy. Additionally, manual therapies such as Cupping, Gua Sha (scraping), and Tui Na massage may also be used in combination with acupuncture or acupressure, to maximize results. Patients can request additional modalities be added to their session when time permits.
